Lego my eggo...

In the Rich family we eat, drink, and sleep Legos. Really, Rocky eats them (and poops them) and Cooper sleeps with them. Well turns out, we will be even more involved with Lego, Matt just accepted an offer to work for them!!! We are absolutely delighted! They are located in Enfield, Connecticut which is northern central CT, minutes from the Massachusetts border. Man, I can't spell either state yet! We are just 2 hours from just about everything: Boston, NYC, etc. We are so excited to embark on this next adventure!

Many of you have asked what our plan is. Matt will leave NEXT week, if we have found a place to live we will all go out together. He starts on Valentines day. If we don't have a place yet, the rest of us will fly out once he finds one. Once again we are packing up our stuff! Deja vu!!

I am so proud of Matt, he has worked long and hard to get this job. We can't wait. We will miss our amazing families and friends. Let the new chapter of our lives begin!

The Bird is the word!

Snowbird that is!! I haven't been skiing for YEARS!!! I grew up going every Saturday with my dad and brothers. I have so many great memories hanging out with my dad on the chair lift. He would sing "High on a mountain top". My first time skiing was at Snowbird on Chickadee as a little girl. I got separated from my dad and tried to ride the lift by myself. I ended up riding DOWN the lift, you don't see many people doing that folks.

We took our big dudes back to my motherland. More great memories on Chickadee! It is so fun to see your kids learn to do something you love. I was so proud of them. I know you are all jealous of my sweet, green, one piece ski suit. Back off, it is toasty warm!

Christmas 2010

Cooper got to try the "Greatest Snow on Earth" for the first time. I don't know who was more proud Coop or Daddy.
Ruby and Grandma Rich have a tradition of hosting a Christmas party together. Ruby sends out invites, makes favors, sets the table (with her very own Spode Christmas dishes that Grandma gave her), and helps make the food. Grandma does most of the work, but Ruby sure loves working with her and being in the spotlight. Ruby really missed the Christmases that we were gone for this reason.

Another tradition we have in the Rich family: TRAINS!!! Mostly the big boys, but the rest of us love to watch them as well. It is fun to see Matt and Grandpa Rich get all excited about their boy toys.
Many of us got hats for Christmas. Morrissa (Grandma) made most of them. We are so blessed by her many talents.



This was our little Christmas. Coop spent the ENTIRE day putting together this helicopter. He was so proud when he was done. Matt and the kids got me my own iPhone. I have been pretty bitter about them in the past, but I must say, I am really enjoying MINE!!! I am feeling so cool that I can text. My very favorite gifts were the little gifts of love that my kids had made me. It is amazing how a set of 6 year old handprints can make you cry.

Another tradition we have is ornaments. The kids all get an ornament representing what they are into that year and then we get a family one. Ruby : a sewing one, Cooper: a lego snowman, Rocky: we turned the vampire binki into his ornament, I swear that kid will have a binki when he is 12! For the family one we got a graduation cap.

Each year as I put Christmas away, I always wonder where we will be next year when it is time to get Christmas out again. Hmmmm....here I am wondering again!

Cocoon of comfort

Rocky has this cozy little sleeping bag like sack that I call the cocoon of comfort. I scored it at a yard sale in Ohio for $.25. We have had some very cold days here in SLC. I had Rocky all bundled up in his little sack and he kept poking his hands out, and I would gently tuck them back in to keep him warm. This happened over and over until he was screaming because his hands were frozen. He was ticked and I just kept thinking life doesn't have to be so hard.

This made me think of what my Heavenly Father has provided me with: commandments. He loves us and has provided us with what we need to be happy. It is our choice if we are to enjoy the blessing of the cocoon of comfort He has given us. I am always amazed and humbled how being a parent helps me to learn about my Heavenly Father. I am so blessed to have this amazing little souls in my life. I hope I can teach them how to spiritually have warm hands!
